Shane Vaughn was making a name for herself as CEO of Omega Records in New York.She left Austin with her then boyfriend Jacob as he made his jump to a new career. Working hard got Shane the job and she was good at it. Now with 2 years of no Jacob in her life she throws all her time into work,When she loses out on signing Icarus Descending she wonders how it happened ,and how Jacob manage to steal them from her.Asking David her P/A to call for Gavin Mayne to her office to talk about losing the band,maybe he has some answers.
Gavin Mayne is arrogant and a Alpha male all the way,and Shane is a thorn in his side.The power play between the two is always on going.Gavin explains to her that things change and the band went with the other company.His cocky attitude brings out Shanes ruthless side ,she warns him about his job but he shrugs it off and says he is to valuable and won't lose his job.
Frustration is at an all time high for Shane and she needs to blow off some steam.David suggest a private club The Resort,she would have to apply but her assures her she will love it. Filling out her application sending it off all she could do was wait.
When Shane receives her acceptance to the club,plans fall into place and David and his boyfriend and Shane make a night of it.
When Gavin finds out Shane has joined his private club it sets his plans in motion time to take her down and get her job.
The author keeps you guessing through the story. Each character gets deep incite into their life.
“What?” Shane asked.
“Nothing.” Jacob’s voice came through anxious.
“It isn’t nothing. You’re doing your thing,” she said, wrinkling her nose.
“What thing?” he half laughed.
She pointed, making circles around his face. “When your jaw gets tight and your eyes get all angry.”
“I don’t have a thing, Shane.” She raised her eyebrows. He exhaled. “All I was going to say was maybe one more night together for good measure. A free pass. No decisions made until tomorrow.”
His eyes flared a green-glowing fire when he leaned on the sides of her stool, trapping her. The mood shifted. Playful, upset, then fucking sexy as hell.
“Nothing good would come out of that, and you know it.” She focused on the grooves along the hardwood floors. A tingling feeling in her gut spread like wildfire through her veins. Oh, God.
“You can’t tell me you aren’t the slightest bit interested.”
She remained paralyzed. “I…”
“Tell me,” he whispered. The energy seeping from his body made her stomach flip. The familiar demands from him never truly left her. Her body succumbed to his voice. It was torture to hold out, her courage to resist slipping. To revisit what they’d had—for one night—wouldn’t be a hardship on her libido.
She gazed into his eyes, a calm control centering her. “I am interested.” A sly smile appeared on his perfect face. “But I set the rules this time. I want it hard, and I want it deep. Tomorrow, we go back to how we are, decisions unmade. No expectations, no strings. Agreed?”
