"My kingdom isn't one you find in fairy tales. Instead, it's built on corruption, lies, and murder."
Charlie
Raised by the chief of police, I knew tangling with the mafia leader of Northridge Heights was a bad idea. Yet as I gazed into his dark eyes, I couldn't resist Teddy's offer. We made a deal. He helps me find my fathers murderer, and I'll stand by his side as paid protection. But nothing could protect my heart—from him. I saw a side of him few ever do, and it left me aching for him. Now, there's a new deal. Stand by his side and reign as his queen. Am I ready to join the seedy underbelly of mafia life, knowing one among them murdered my father?
Teddy
When I made the chief of police a deal, I never knew he had a daughter. After his death, I felt compelled to watch over her and keep her safe. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love. But helping her fit into my world wouldn't be easy. She had to be trained. Groomed. Educated. To my great relief, my beautiful Charlie exceeded my wildest expectations. Still, I live in fear that if the secrets I've kept come to light, my queen will become my enemy.

BL Mute is a new author to me, but I must admit she has me hooked with Devious King. This is book one in the Hale Mafia series, and it was wonderful. Let me just restate this: IT WAS WONDERFUL! Over the top great mafia story with lots of intrigue and a murder mystery and a secret cartel. I couldn’t get enough. Over stimulating doesn’t begin to describe the main characters and the working dynamics between them. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Lucas and Julius) I think were my two favorite supporting characters that I have read all year. I loved them! 5-stars for Devious King. And Mrs. Blue get busy on writing book 2 I need to know what happens next, ya can’t leave me dangling with this cliffhanger for too long!!!!!
Anger over the murder of her father is something that Charlotte “Charlie” Welsh is not going to get over. She might be able to move on once she figures out who took her father from her but that is proving impossible. Theodore Hale is a “businessman” that knew Chief Welsh and wants to help Charlie find who murdered him, but he also has his own agenda. Theodore and the once police Chief had an understanding and now that the Chief is gone Theodore feels the need to protect Charlie and protect his own interests in Northridge Heights. This is a new side of the law that Charlie is not use to and she is not sure how much she can trust this Devious King even when he professes to only want to make her his queen.
